The mentoring
program for the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area is a structured
program which brings
about a trusting relationship between members of our organization and
youth in the community. We offer
guidance, support, coaching and encouragement aimed at developing and
improving the competence and character of the high school and college
students in the San Francisco Bay Area.
We mentor, motivate and lead by example. Members of the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area are outstanding leaders in their chosen professional
fields and in the community. We care about the well
being of the
students and our ultimate goal is to help them bring out strengths and
develop character that
is already present within them.
The youth in our community have a great potential to succeed in life
and contribute greatly to society. In many cases, comprehensive and
continuous mentoring is one of the key elements to their success in
school and in life.
The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area
Junior 100 Program works with African American male high school students grades 9-12. The
program focuses on mentoring, life skills coaching, life academic achievement, college preparation
and career skills training.
The 100 Black
Men of the Bay Area Collegiate 100 Program at the
University of California, Berkeley
is an auxiliary organization to chapter. The mission of the
"Collegiate 100" is to enhance the educational experience of African
American students at the university, act as a support group, offer peer
counseling
to fellow students, and serve as a resource center.
The members of the "Collegiate 100" assist the 100 Black Men of the
Bay Area in responding to the social, emotional, educational, and
physical needs of young Black children who have few or no positive
role models in the communities in which they live. Members of our
chapter serve as mentors and advisors
to "Collegiate 100" members by providing career advancement counseling
and support for undergraduate students applying to graduate and
professional school. Our chapter also helps "Collegiate 100"
members secure summer internships with corporations, public agencies,
small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

On a weekly basis,
members of the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area meet with the students in the
"Junior 100" to teach life skills modules, lead activities and be supportive figures in
the young men’s lives.
