CORE COMMITTEES (Supporting "Four for the Future")

The Mentoring & Scholarship Committee responsible for developing and implementing programs that provide personal guidance, positive motivation, life skills coaching and mentoring to young African Americans.  In addition, the committee manages the process of administering scholarships that the chapter awards to African American students.

       Committee Chairmen: Doug Davis


The Education Committee is responsible for developing, coordinating and administering programs that assist the educational needs of African American high school and college students.  In addition, the committee provides the tools for students to excel in their studies and increase their academic scores.

      Committee Chairman: Chris Chatmon


The Health & Wellness Committee is responsible for developing and implementing programs that address the psychological, physical and nutritional needs necessary for the health and wellness of the African American community and children in particular.  In addition, this committee manages and runs the Annual Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet for the chapter.

      Committee Chairman: Richard Scott


The Economic Development Committee is responsible for developing and implementing programs that promote the financial empowerment, self-sufficiency and economic growth of chaper members and the broader African American community.

      Committee Chairmen: Howard Parker and Frank Tucker


 

OTHER COMMITTEES

The Gala/Social Committee is responsible for managing and operating the Annual Scholarship Fundraising Gala which is the signature event for the chapter.  In addition, the committee also runs other social events including the Annual Family BBQ.

      Committee Chairman: Danny Williams


The Finance Committee is responsible for providing guidance to the Chapter Board of Directors and Committee Chairmen with regards to the management of the chapter and committee finances.
 
       Committee Chairman: El-Melech Stills Bey


The Membership & Intake Committee is responsible for managing the process of evaluating prospective members into the chapter.  In addition, the committee runs the ceremonial induction program for new incoming members. 

       Committee Chairmen: Reggie Wickliff


The Legal Committee is responsible for advising the Chapter Board of Directors and Committee Chairmen on all legal matters related to the operations of the chapter.

       Committee Chairman: Vernon Goins


The Fundraising Committee is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing fundraising programs for the chapter.

       Committee Chairman: Lloyd Lawrence, Daryle Whyte, Abby Hussein and Bill Holsey


The Government & Public Affairs Committee is responsible for providing advice and consultation on matters related to public policy as it relates to the community and the entire chapter. 

       Committee Chairman: Joel Young


The Public Relations Committee is responsible for determining methods to improve the visibility and public awareness of chapter programs and events to the community.

       Committee Chairman: Michael Wiggins and Vernon Whitmore


The Technology Committee is responsible for providing IT (Information Technology) strategic planning and technical support to the Committee Chairman and the entire chapter.  The primary focus of the committee is to support and maintain the Chapter Website and the General Membership Yahoo E-mail Distribution Group.
